The lineup presented by The Irish Tenors continues to be interesting and unique, powerfully pleasing, and delightfully charming.
Through the years, this amazing trio has boasted one constant: Anthony Kearns, the strong, yet lyrical tenor whose mighty voice can be heard throughout the trio compositions. His broad range and vocal quality are exceptional. Anthony's solo presentations are impeccable; his repertoire is huge, varied, and appealing. The tenderness expressed in his traditional Irish, the power in his classics have brought him wide acclaim and admiration. With flawless delivery, Kearns has made many Tenor Classics his own. Anthony is the only man of the current group always to have been a member.
The trio was joined by the also classically trained Finbar Wright for the Belfast concert. The amalgamation of the Kearns/Wright harmonies is magnificent; their voices blend incredibly well and they perfectly complement one another. Besides his love of opera and traditional Irish, Finbar sings across the spectrum as witnessed by his many successful CDs. His solo offerings are always well received, but there is great anticipation for Wright’s Spanish numbers at Irish Tenors concerts; they are his very best. His addition to the group after the first year was inspirational.
The third spot in this wonderful trio is held by Karl Scully. He brings to the organization an impressive background. Karl is also a classically trained tenor, and, like Anthony and Finbar, comfortable in the rich music of his homeland as well as on the opera stage. In common with Kearns and Wright, Scully has performed in and won many Feis Ceoil competitions in Ireland and has sung many operatic roles. Scully also began his training with Veronica Dunne, returning the trio to all Irish Tenors, trained by the same singing teacher. With a voice compared to the crooners of the past, Scully's inclusion in the group is a pleasure to both Irish and classical music lovers, but also to those fond of gently sung love songs. Fans of The Irish Tenors are pleased with the strong new sound and lush harmonies which have come from Scully's addition in this impressive trio of voices.
The Irish Tenors have released eight highly successful CDs to date, and have several popular DVDs to their credit, with the most current release being the inspirational and spiritual CD Sacred, released in the Fall of 2005 on the Billboard Classical Crossover Chart's Top 10.
The Irish Tenors were invited by the RTÉ to do a TV series in Dublin during summer 2006, continues to tour the U.S. two or three times annually, and hope to complete a recording soon. The release of a new DVD is also rumored.
The American audience adores The Irish Tenors, and their worldwide success has spawned many imitators. But make no mistake: there is only one group with the impeccable harmonies, the lush orchestration, the international following, the endurance, class, and sheer talent of
