The Official Press Release Regarding the New Lineup
Dublin, Ireland, April 27th 2006 — After an extensive search, CMI Entertainment is pleased to announce that Karl Scully has been chosen to join the world-renowned singing group The Irish Tenors. Karl supplants original member John McDermott, who characteristically stayed aboard until the search was complete.
His operatic roles include Albert in “Albert Herring” by Benjamin Britten, National Concert Hall, Dublin, Paolino in "Il Matrimonio Segreto", Cimarosa, Orvieto, Italy, Ferrando, in Cosi Fan Tutte, Orvieto, Italy. On film, Karl portrayed Count John McCormack in “Nora” starring Ewan McGregor.
“We envision a return to a more classical sound for The Irish Tenors,” CMI Managing Partner Sean Casey acknowledged “And we’re confident Karl will provide that for us.” Karl makes his Irish Tenors debut next month when filming begins for a ten part special entitled, “Legends and Heroes” that will air on RTE later this year. North American audiences will be introduced to Karl when he joins Anthony Kearns and Finbar Wright for a tour beginning in August.
