Anthony Kearns has often been known to sing a moving introduction to "Danny Boy." It is sung very much in the Sean Nós style and is quite lovely.

On his newest CD, The Contender, Tommy Fleming recorded the intro. He credits Anthony with this statement inside the CD cover:

The introduction, first heard by the Irish tenor Anthony Kearns, gives the song an even greater poignancy.

Printed and included within said CD cover is the entire introduction. It is reprinted here. Thanks to Tommy Fleming and Clann Records.

We sincerely hope that Anthony will once again include it in his solo repertoire.

The valley's hushed, the flowers are all dying,
The meadow here is white with the winter's snow.
Lord, as I stand in the place where Danny's lying,
I say a silent prayer somehow I know
He hears me there, so soft I tread above him.
So now he sleeps in peace
Hears Danny's voice no more.
