Replete with gorgeous melodies, inspiring messages, and vibrant resonances bound in perfect balance between voices and orchestra, this release is a musical treasure -- a gift for all occasions; a gift for all ears!

The Irish Trinity of Tenors offers three ideal Irish Tenor vocal timbres. The voices, stunningly radiant and powerfully expressive, present a broad range of mood: contemplative, joyous, bold, sweet, and consoling. The orchestrations are colorful and clear, lacking nothing. Neither overly bold nor understated, the orchestrations beautifully complement all aspects of the Tenors’ performances. The consistently unified sound throughout the recording suggests it well may have been recorded concert style, with all performers together, live, rather than created from an assemblage of various tracks.

The Songs:

“Deus Meus,” a medieval chant in processional style, exudes a uniquely colorful and appealing neo-ancient aesthetic. The haunting harmonies and rhythmic punctuations carry a vocal conviction which is matched well by strong instrumental coloration.

“Be Thou My Vision,” a well-known hymn of inspiration, is introduced boldly by the orchestra and followed by clear and simple, statements from the tenors alternating solo with tutti voices. A full orchestration sounds securely throughout, including sweet-then-bold interludes, all sounding a powerful, rich, and vocally harmonious stirring finale.

“Morning Has Broken” is a triple-meter pastoral dance with celestial spirits. This performance brings a graceful dance of hope wrapped in happiness. The song’s joy and inspiration grow biologically as the message progresses.

“My Love” is a musical embrace with an unusually expressive melody. This quazi-pop hymn has a gorgeous descending countermelody beginning each chorus and is carried gently by a smooth, rocking rhythm. This exquisite message is marked throughout by hope, joy, and love.

“If I Can Help Somebody” sends a typically positive Irish message. The melody is a perfect reflection of the lyrics. Appropriately set in folk-hymn style, this performance has an inviting spirit which soars with great conviction.

“My Forever Friend” carries a message appropriate for our time -- the need of God’s friendship and the need for being a friend. The Irish Trinity alternates solo with tutti passages and uses powerful vocal harmonies to exemplify the hope and joy in these friendships, their qualities, values, and trust of God’s support through all tribulations. This spiritual message parallels the great J. S. Bach’s musical view of death: that joy will accompany one’s release from life’s pain.

“Shelter Me” is a hope-filled plea both for protection through life and for all that we treasure. This pastoral folk statement begins as light guitar harmonies and an oboe obbligato accompany an eloquent tenor melody. Strings and piano join this strophic plea inviting meditation upon life’s road, the need for protection, and the consideration of the universal source of strength and peace, the significant ingredients in everyone’s life.

“Amazing Grace” is clear, powerful, and fresh. Despite the immense fame of this song, there is nothing hackneyed in this performance. Tenor countermelodies inspire multi-dimensional listening while tutti phrases are supported with bold brass soaring with power! The orchestra parallels the singers’ rising conviction as the musical message intensifies to a monumental plagal (Amen) cadence.

“To Do Your Will,” a universally inspiring folk-hymn, combines a powerful text with a beloved hymn well-known in another guise. Simultaneously, this song is simple, tender, and powerful. It is a profound musical embrace inspiring hope and giving encouragement. The singer’s message is glorious and triumphant! The orchestral partnering is unbelievably sensitive and it may be considered among the finest orchestral accompaniments ever – inspiring with its fineness and delicacy of line.

“Hail Glorious St. Patrick” is fervent both in vocalization and orchestration with clean melodic lines throughout and using sparse colorful harmonies. The I-Tenors really let out their joy in this bold, proud statement of Thanks!

“How Deep The Father’s Love” possesses an easy religious-folk appeal and natural, rich sincerity. This statement is a musical stained-glass miniature, a simple and sweet source for meditation upon hope and appreciation of life’s gifts.

“Lord of the Dance,” a beautifully adapted well-known Shaker melody, is a song-dance which encourages the listener to join with joyful physical response, a musical reflection of one’s life-path. This performance imparts happiness-unto-elation as it weaves through several dance styles including, of course, an Irish jig.

”There’s No Cross” is a sweet-gentle and comforting song about suffering and painful sacrifice. Segments of this moving story alternate with powerful statements of infinite hope. The profound tenor role is coupled perfectly with a rich orchestration – both creating a most sensitive Irish message.

“I’ll Walk With God” is an intensely fervent, sweet-to-powerful commitment and plea, a recognition that infinite hope and divine guidance will triumph through life’s portals. The song’s conveyance of trust and conviction are ideally matched by the tenors’ rising ranges and the continuously intensifying whole expression.

“Salve Regina” brings the entire CD to a symbolic and religious cyclical completion. We have been moved from the opening chant’s (“Deus Meus”) focus upon God to the ultimate consideration of God’s Mother, the Regina – Queen of Heaven. Also, the pairing of these chants brings a unique dimension to the meaning of “Alpha and Omega.” The simplicity and strength of these chants easily recalls the color and tenacity, the profound values and longevity of Ireland’s rich ancient and religious past.
