The Irish Tenors first came to audiences through PBS broadcasts of a concert filmed in Dublin, Ireland, in 1998. The concert was first aired during a PBS drive in early 1999, and was a huge success. Originally, the Irish Tenors consisted of John McDermott, Anthony Kearns, and Ronan Tynan. In February of 2000, McDermott left the group and was replaced by Finbar Wright, who originally had been asked to be a part of the group, but due to contractual agreements was unable to do so at the time.

"So now we have a line up of all Irish singers, all Irish Tenors, and all trained under the one singing teacher."* Dr. Veronica Dunne, known as one of the premier vocal teachers in Ireland, trained all three gentlemen early in their careers. She has been heard to affectionately refer to the lads as "The Ronettes."

The Irish Tenors have found tremendous success in America, and the Tenors have developed a dedicated following. In the years since the Irish Tenors became a reality, they have been on numerous sell out tours which have included the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. They have toured doing both their regular repertoire taken from their three PBS specials, as well has having hugely successful annual Christmas Tours. They currently have six CDs to their credit, which have occupied top positions on the Billboard Charts .

Now that Ronan Tynan has chosen to depart the Tenors, McDermott rejoins to round out the group of Kearns/Wright/McDermott: The Irish Tenors!
