Brief Biography:
Anthony Kearns

Anthony Joseph Kearns was born into a musical family on August 17, 1971, in a small Irish village in County Wexford called Kiltealy. Anthony now calls Dublin home.

Anthony's musical talent became evident when he was quite young. He is a self-taught musician who began singing at a very early age. Besides being the resident singer at his secondary school, he entered any and all available competitions during his youth and school years, winning on a regular basis.

In 1993, Anthony learned of a contest: "Ireland's Search for a Tenor." Even though Kearns was at that time untrained, he entered the competition singing "The Impossible Dream" and "Danny Boy" as an encore.

After winning the competition, Anthony studied for three years with Veronica Dunne, Ireland's renowned voice teacher, at the Leinster School of Music. While at the Leinster school, Anthony met Patrick Healy, who served as Anthony's voice coach for several years. (Mr. Healy is currently his accompanist on all his solo tours.)

While he was training, Anthony continued entering and winning singing competitions all over Ireland, including the prestigious Dermot Troy Trophy for oratorio in 1995 and 1996, the Best Male Singer at the Waterford International Festival of Light Opera, and he reached the top at the ESB Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition in 1999.

While studying in Wales in 1998, Kearns received the call from The Irish Tenors. The group has released eight CD's to date which have sold millions of copies, with their newest Sacred (an inspirational/spiritual CD), released in the Fall of 2005 in the top 10 of Billboard's Classical Crossover Charts. The Tenors have completed several successful tours of the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Outside The Irish Tenors, Anthony has a thriving solo career, touring all over the U.S. and Canada at least twice annually, besides being in demand in his own country. In addition, he has sung the roles of Macduff in Verdi's "Macbeth," Alfredo in Verdi's "LaTraviata," Rinunccio in Puccini's "Gianni Schicchi;" he also sang "Faust," and lead Tenor in "The Lily of Killarney," all in Ireland. Kearns has sung lead Tenor in multiple productions of "The Irish Ring" in both Ireland and the U.S. and sang the role of Fenton in an Italian production of Verdi's "Falstaff."

With The Irish Tenors, Anthony has performed in nearly every prestigious venue in the U.S. and has a growing list of venues on his solo score card, including having been a guest soloist with The Boston Pops. Kearns has appeared at all of Ireland's top venues.

Anthony Kearns is truly the consummate performer, with unlimited potential and universal appeal.

Anthony does philanthropic work to further music education in his home county, all over Ireland, and in the U.S. as well. You may help him in this cause by visiting

Mr. Kearns also spends a great deal of time lending his name to good causes both in his country and the U.S. as witnessed by the number of benefit causes he performs.
