The Anthony Kearns Music Fund was established on May 14, 2001, to provide funds for the
music program of the FCJ Secondary School, Bunclody*,
which Anthony Kearns attended, and in whose band he played trombone. The current conductor of the band, Gearoid Grant, is the same man
who gave Anthony his chance to sing at school functions.
Considering Anthony's passion for and dedication to vocal music, The Fund has since expanded to include post-secondary school vocal scholarships, as well. This fund is administered by Priscilla Horst in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Mrs. Horst was inspired to establish it after attending a concert of the FCJ Bunclody Band on April 8, 2001, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, at which Anthony Kearns performed with the band. All the needed ingredients were there: young student musicians playing their hearts out, a talented and enthusiastic band leader, a school music program, an FCJ Bunclody alum who had "made good" on an international level, and an adoring audience.
Mr. Kearns has an ardent group of fans and a rather large following in the internet community. These fans enjoy sending remembrances to him for his birthday and Christmas. It is Anthony's wish that these kind remembrances be directed to his music fund to help further music education at his former secondary school, in his home county of Wexford, and in his beloved country.
